There are studies that have shown that human excrement has a lot of nutrients that can be beneficial to plants. It has 90% nitrogen and the urine alone has plenty of phosphorus. David and Keaney, have been housemates and seen an opportunity that would be beneficial once they create fertilizers for free, it would also reduce the water bills.

Now they were well aware that the landlord would not permit any coming changes therefore they installed a toilet near a water heater which was in the basement. This toilet had a special construction to hold human excrement. Once this construction was full, they would cover it up with a lid that had holes on it. They let it stand for one year and later shovel all the contents from that container into a specially designed composter. The urine that was collected was then composted in a woody material from postal and was then spread in a garden bed that was well watered and well mulched.

How safe is it to use urine in this manner? Remains understand that pathogens that are excreted by humans are found in their feces. Urine is pathogen-free. Suppose if there are any pathogens then they would be destroyed when the urine is kept. Many experts have said that urine can be kept for one month to age and it will suffice that is only if it is from a single household, otherwise 6 months is suggested. If you plan to use it in your plants directly, we suggest diluting it first; one part of urine and eight parts of water. This will prevent the roots of the plants from burning.

Plenty of such research is conducted by various resource centers on individuals across the globe. Human-compost is 100% safe to be utilized however it must be done in the right way. It must be collected and kept to be composted in a well-aerated bin for at least one year. Once it is ready you can empty it in a container and let it stand for a couple of weeks in the sun before you mix it in your garden beds.

Packed with plenty of nutrients, this black gold is extremely beneficial for your garden beds, it will enrich the soil with good texture, structural and water retention capacity.
