A compost toilet is a kind of a dry toilet that is utilized to hold human waste, the biological process that is utilized is known as composting. The entire process involves organic material being decompose and turning waste into material that is similar to compost. Microorganisms are involved in carrying out the entire process under aerobic conditions that are controlled. Many compost toilets do not utilize water that is otherwise used for flushing therefore they are known to be dry toilets.

I’m not sure how many of you have actually seen a compost toilet, but these toilets are designed in a unique way where they utilize carbon addictive’s that involve peat moss, coconut coir, and sawdust after every use. By doing so it helps to create air pockets promoting decomposition. It also controls the foul odor by increasing the nitrogen to carbon ratio. Many of these toilets are very reliant on the mesophilic composting. When the compost is kept within the composting segment it also helps in killing all pathogens. Once the process is done the final product can be shifted to another system, this includes the next composting step in order to allow time for the mesophilic composting. This ensures that the pathogens begin to reduce furthermore.
